If you’re injured at work, workers’ comp insurance provides for five basic benefits:
- Medical Care
If you are recovering from an injury or illness caused by work, your employer is required to pay for your medical care. This can include doctor’s visits and other treatment services, tests, medicines, equipment, and travel costs reasonably necessary to treat your injury.
- Temporary Disability Benefits
If your injury prevents you from doing your usual job during recovery and receiving your wages, you may receive temporary disability benefits, up to two thirds of your normal pay.
- Permanent Disability Benefits
If you do not fully recover from your injury and your injury causes a permanent, measurable, loss of physical or mental function, you may receive permanent disability benefits.
- Supplemental Job Displacement Benefit
If you are eligible for permanent disability benefits, your employer doesn’t offer you work, and you don’t return to work for your employer you may be eligible for a voucher to help pay for retraining or skill enhancement.
- Death Benefits
Death Benefits are payments to your spouse, children, or other dependents if you die from a job injury or illness.
